Docking & Tendering
Some ships do not dock at the port, but instead, anchor in the harbor. Lifeboats or tenders are used to transfer passengers back and forth between the port and the ship. On some of the bigger ships, sometimes the staff will issue tender tickets. In this case passengers with shore excursions will have priority, so if you want to get ashore as early as possible, be sure to get in line for the first batch of tender tickets. Tenders will shuttle passengers back and forth all day long every 15 minutes, so even when the ship is at anchor and you need to use the tenders, you will still be able to come and go as you wish. If you are handicap, this may be an inconvenience to you. Often the ship’s staff will not be authorized to carry you down the gangway, but will be available for assistance. Please keep this in mind when selecting your cruise. When the ship docks in port, the gangway lets out right onto the pier for passengers to walk off the ship.

While You're in Port
When you are in port the ship is always available for meals and limited activities. However, the casino and the shops will not be open. Think of the ship as your floating hotel. You may come and go as you wish.
