As president and managing director of Cunard
Line, Carol Marlow heads a company with more than 168 years of maritime history and home to the “most famous ocean liners
in the world.” She
has worldwide responsibility for the luxury Cunard brand, which includes the already-legendary Queen Mary 2, the iconic Queen
Elizabeth 2 and the new Queen Victoria. In this role,
Marlow reports to Peter Shanks, chief commercial officer of Carnival U.K. Prior to her appointment to her current role in November 2005, the UK-based Marlow
served as Cunard’s managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as UK managing director for Princess
Cruises and chairman of Swan Hellenic. Marlow joined P&O Princess Cruises (now Carnival plc) in 1997 and during her career
with the company has been instrumental in the operations of five different cruise brands, starting as managing director of
Swan Hellenic. She subsequently oversaw sales and marketing for P&O Cruises
for two years, and in 2002 became responsible for growing the Princess Cruises business from the UK
when she was appointed UK managing director. In July 2004 Marlow took over as managing director for Cunard Line in Europe, the
Middle East and Africa, and also took responsibility for the UK
sales of Seabourn.
